Tree Encounters of the Full Moon - 2
Winter Solstice Long Nights Moon 2013 December 16, 17, 18

Medwyn's Encounter

It was a bright cold winter day when I returned to the urban forest border between Cousins Park and Creekside Commons the cohousing community I call home, to spend some time with the Alder. A perfect day with bright blue sky and air so clean and clear it sparkled in the sunlight. Alder branches now showed their full winter form. The forest was full of tiny songbirds, busy feasting off the seeds within Alder's tiny cones.

I sat with Alder beside the small stream whose banks are held by Alder's roots, feeding from the moisture and rich soils created by the rotting vegetation of summer's fallen leaves.

Barbara's Encounter

Sitting on the tree with my back supported by the trunk and my feet secure on its exposed roots.
Sitting on the tree with my back supported by the trunk and my feet secure on its exposed roots I shed tears.
Sitting on the tree with my back supported by the trunk and my feet secure on its exposed roots I shed tears and cry.
Sitting on the tree with my back supported by the trunk and my feet secure on its exposed roots I cry and wail with the wind blowing in to my open mouth.

Nané's Encounter

“We would emphasize the absolute necessity of large trees for the well-being of the land. This is not merely because we (the tree devas) partly control rainfall, but we also draw forth inner radiances which are as necessary to the land as rain…we can also be drawn by love from any of you. So let us come into your hearts now and again…” (Tree devas via Dorothy McLean, "To Hear the Angels Sing," p. 130)
Sitting on my mat and leaning against the tree again in the cold winter light – I am looking out towards the park with its grassy lands and other trees all about, mostly they stand alone and far from each other. I look at the Lake and think how I have been coming here all these years. Also, especially this last year to sit at the lake and ground my-self with the earth, I put my hands on the earth for healing and release.
Being-with this tree – I feel my own density and energy compared to the tree. It is taking a long time for me, to even begin to attune to the tree's subtle energy. I arrived feeling somewhat stressed, with work and Christmas preparations.
But I leave the tree feeling more gounded in my body, aware of physical sensations - just heavy and tired feeling, rather then the abstact stresses and business of before - I have shed a layer.
How to allow communication with the tree?
Now - feeling gratitude – connection of LOVE with others, and remember-ance, gentleness with myself.
